Behind the Scenes: Yasuaki Onishi

April 2, 2012

This past week we traveled to Houston to begin filming our forth short documentary with Rice Gallery. Japanese artist Yasuaki Onishi is currently creating a site-specific installation inside the gallery using only empty cardboard boxes, fishing line, hot glue and an enormous plastic sheet.

Yasu worked alongside his assistant Tappei all day as we documented the process of creating a floating mountainous form in the space. We also conducted an interview with Yasu with the help of Andres, a Rice University student fluent in Japanese. We plan on returning to Houston on April 13th to document the public opening and the final installation. It promises to be an incredible show!
