In the beginning of the year we were invited by Aurora Picture Show to create a film inspired by footage from the Texas Archive of the Moving Image. The completed film screened in a program along with projects by five other Texas based filmmakers and video artists at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston this past week. We took a three day trip to Houston with our friends Remy and Marisa, who also acted in our film, for the screening at CAMH. We were totally impressed with the temporary screening room Peter Lucas and the CAMH team built for the series of screenings leading up to and including our program “Mess with Texas”. The turnout was great, and the audience really seemed to enjoy our film. Here are some stills from the completed film:
Synopsis: Shooting Techniques explores the process of a pair of video artists as they make work inspired by films from the Texas Archive of the Moving Image. The video artists, played by Remy Bordas and Marisa Finos, are loosely based on filmmakers Mark and Angela Walley and their collaborative relationship with artists Matthew Van Hellen and Jeremiah Teutsch.
