Wednesday afternoon we got a call from Rachel at Diverse Works notifying us that we’d been selected as recipients of the 2013 Idea Fund Grant for our documentary film project Tia Chuck. The website stated the recipients would be notified in the middle of December, so it came as a total surprise when we got the call. Rachel said the panel was impressed with our work sample, which was our most recent documentary film Vincent Valdez: Excerpts for John. It was great news to get, and we were having a nice day downtown running errands and having meetings. On our way back home we got into a car accident on I-10. It was terrible, but luckily we didn’t sustain any real injuries. Read more on Angela’s blog, veggieangie. It was quite a day.
We’ve had the last couple days to recover, and are very pleased to have The Idea Fund send out a press release about the selected recipients. Congrats to our friends Nate & Ethel! Also to fellow SWAMP Emerging Filmmaker Grant recipient Stephanie Saint Sanchez, it’s great to see fellow filmmakers still doing what they love. We’ll be traveling to Houston in January to discuss the project along with the nine other recipients. Thanks to The Idea Fund, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Diverse Works, Aurora Picture Show, and Project Row Houses for making this opportunity possible!
