Our short documentary film Vincent Valdez: Excerpts for John continues it’s screening run around Texas with the Houston Film Commission’s 2013 Texas Filmmaker’s Showcase. This Saturday it will be screening at Sundance Cinemas Houston as part of the 2013 Houston Cinema Arts Festival (RSVP on Facebook). It’s great to be included in the festival and we wish we could be there! We had the privilege of attending the first festival in 2010 when they hosted big-name guests such as Isabella Rossellini, John Turturro, and Shirley MacLaine, and it was awesome!

We also wanted to share this Glasstire article Festival on The Verge by our friend Peter Lucas. In the article he discusses some of the lesser known, but highly significant special guests attending the Houston Cinema Arts Festival including experimental film pioneers Jonas Mekas and Barbara Hammer. We recently watched Free Radicals: A History of Experimental Film on TCM, which features Mekas and his work. Again, we wish we could be there to see their panel discussions, but we’re finishing up a short documentary following Baltimore-based street artist Gaia and his exhibition MARSHLAND at Rice University Art Gallery. All our best to our Houston friends, hope the festival is going great! Learn more on the Houston Cinema Arts Society website.
